Modem - transfers outgoing digital signals into analogue signals for telecom companies

Microfilter - this allows you to access broadband and a phone line at the same time

Router - allows an Internet connection to be shared between more than one computer

v.90 / v.92 - a standard used for 56 Kbps dialup modems
